About this game
Block Breaker (also known as Breakout or brick breaker) is the classic arcade game where you bounce a ball off a paddle to clear the bricks above. This version runs 100 stages, with the brick layout and ball speed shifting as you climb, so it never settles into a grind.
Special blocks drive the strategy. Orange explosive blocks take out their neighbours in a chain reaction, while grey steel blocks cannot be destroyed at all and are best used as reflectors to reach awkward angles. Catch the falling power-ups with your paddle — wide paddle, piercing ball, multi-ball and an extra life.
Breaking bricks in quick succession builds a combo multiplier, so two players clearing the same stage can end up with wildly different scores. You only need to destroy 90% of the destroyable bricks to clear a stage, so indestructible steel never leaves you stuck. No install, no signup, works on phones and desktops.
Tips & strategy
- The further from the paddle's centre you hit the ball, the sharper the return angle — centre hits go nearly vertical and are hard to aim
- Aim explosive (orange) blocks at the middle of a dense cluster to maximise the chain and bank a lot of points at once
- Steel (grey) blocks can't be broken, so treat them as walls and use them to bank shots into the upper rows
- Multi-ball pays out most right after you grab it — clear aggressively while the combo is still alive
- Wide paddle and the extra life directly extend your run, so they're usually worth a small risk to collect
- The combo multiplier decays if you go too long without a break — keep a steady rhythm for a high score
