📖 How to Play
- Move with mouse-follow (no click), arrow keys / A-D, or drag
- Shots auto-fire — kill enemies and grab the power-ups they drop
- Power-ups are permanent: bullets, fire rate, power, missiles, shields all stack
- Taking a hit resets your weapon upgrades (lives and shields are kept)
- Each stage ends with a boss that cycles multiple attack patterns — dodge and destroy it
- Kill streaks raise the combo multiplier. Clear all 5 stages for the global leaderboard
About this game
Space Shooter is a five-stage retro shmup: fight through waves of enemies and take down the boss waiting at the end of each stage. Your ship fires automatically, so there's no button-mashing — you concentrate on movement.
The heart of it is the power-up system. Enemies drop items that permanently stack up your bullet count, fire rate, damage, missiles and shields. The further you get without dying, the more the screen fills with your own firepower.
But taking a hit resets your weapon upgrades (lives and shields are kept). That creates real tension around protecting a fully-powered ship — the classic shmup dynamic where staying untouched is the whole game. Bosses cycle through several distinct attack patterns, so reading them matters.
Tips & strategy
- Grab every power-up you safely can — stacked upgrades make the later stages dramatically easier
- A single hit wipes all weapon upgrades, so favour positions you can definitely dodge from over aggressive pushes
- Don't hug the bottom edge; orbiting near the middle gives you room to answer fire from either side
- Bosses rotate patterns. On your first attempt, prioritise dodging over damage and learn the rotation
- Shields absorb one hit, which is worth the most precisely when you're fully powered up
