About this game

Escape the Study is a point-and-click escape game: you're locked in a study and have to search the room, solve its puzzles, and open the door. At difficulty ★1 it's the entry point of the series and a good first escape game.

Tapping the furniture and objects lets you examine them in detail — an antique clock, a bookshelf, a rug, a desk drawer, a landscape painting, and the door. Combining the fragments each one gives you reveals the drawer's four-digit passcode.

Inside the drawer is a card, and the colour order printed on it is the next key. Sliding the painting aside reveals a wall safe; entering that colour order opens it and yields the door key. The room also contains objects that have nothing to do with the solution — working out which information actually matters is part of the challenge.

Tips & strategy

  • Start by tapping absolutely everything — the clues are deliberately spread across several objects
  • The passcode isn't written anywhere in one piece; you combine information from separate places such as the clock and the rug
  • Don't just look at the painting — try moving it
  • Some objects in the room are irrelevant to the solution, so not every number you find belongs in the code
  • The 💡 hint button is there if you're stuck, but each hint lowers your score — re-examining everything usually pays better

FAQ

Q. How hard is it?

A. ★1 — the entry point of the series. It's a single room with a straightforward chain, so it suits first-time escape players.

Q. Are the puzzles the same every time?

A. No. The passcode and colour order are randomised on each play, so it stays replayable after you clear it.

Q. What if I get stuck?

A. There's a 💡 hint button, though each hint reduces your score — searching the room again first is usually better.

Q. How is score calculated?

A. From your clear time and how many hints you used. Fast, hint-free escapes score highest on the global leaderboard.
