📖 How to Play
  • Pick a name + job (Warrior / Rogue / Mage) at the title screen
  • From town, enter the world map. Unlock 5 biomes in order: Plains → Forest → Cave → Tower → Ruins
  • Each field uses grid movement, fog of war, and enemy pursuit AI. Reach stairs to descend; clear the final-floor boss to complete a location
  • Combat is turn-based: Attack / Skill / Tame / Flee. Successful tame turns the monster into a party member
  • Manage allies at the ranch, revive at the temple, check pokedex progress. Soul Shards are the meta-progression currency

About this game

Soul Quest is a full browser RPG: pick one of three jobs and adventure across five biomes. Choose Warrior, Rogue or Mage, then unlock Plains, Forest, Cave, Tower and Ruins in turn. It's unusually complete for a browser RPG — exploration, combat, progression and collection are all here.

Field movement is grid-based with fog of war limiting your vision, and enemies use pursuit AI, so charging in blindly gets you surrounded. Descend the stairs to go deeper; defeat the boss on the final floor to complete a location.

The standout feature is monster taming. Choose Tame during battle and, if it succeeds, the monster joins you. Allies are managed at the ranch and tracked in an encyclopedia. If you fall you can revive at the temple, and the soul shards you gather act as the meta-progression currency.

Tips & strategy

  • Enemies actively pursue you, so funnelling them into a narrow corridor and fighting one at a time saves a lot of health
  • Taming lands more reliably once a monster's health is low — decide before you finish it off
  • The jobs play differently: Warrior for straight fights, Rogue for speed, Mage for area damage
  • Fog limits your view, so tracing the outer edge to learn the layout before pushing into the middle keeps you oriented
  • Always heal before a boss. Final-floor bosses are on a different level from regular encounters
  • Tamed monsters are real combat power — taming early makes the later biomes much steadier

FAQ

Q. How many jobs are there?

A. Three — Warrior, Rogue and Mage — each with a different combat style. You pick one at the title screen.

Q. Can I recruit monsters?

A. Yes. Choose Tame in battle and, on success, the monster joins your party. Allies live at the ranch and are tracked in the encyclopedia.

Q. How many biomes are there?

A. Five: Plains, Forest, Cave, Tower and Ruins. They unlock in order, and each location's final floor has a boss.

Q. Do I lose my save if I die?

A. No — you revive at the temple, and the soul shards you've collected carry over as meta-progression currency.

Q. How long is a playthrough?

A. Clearing all five biomes is a substantial run, but progress is saved so you can play in short sessions — a single expedition takes only a few minutes.
